The Polish-German Centre in Dębno ( 43 Mickiewicza Street) is still hosting the exhibition ‘Jute, Houses, Republic. Industrialist and Social Reformer Max Bahr (1848–1930)’.
The exhibition tells the story of an extraordinary man of the late 19th and early 20th centuries – an entrepreneur associated with the jute industry, who was able to combine economic success with community service. Visitors can learn about his initiatives aimed at improving workers' conditions, developing housing and education.
The display cases and boards feature archival photographs, documents, urban plans and press clippings that show how Max Bahr influenced the development of the city and the lives of its residents. The exhibition also encourages reflection on how industrial and social heritage shapes our view of the contemporary city and community.
We invite you to visit – the exhibition is open until the end of September!
