The opening of the new school took place on 19 February 1959, by the then Chairman of the Municipal National Council in Dębno, Marian Supernak. The newly opened elementary school had 11 classrooms, a physics, chemistry and biology office, a library, a kitchen, a canteen and a dentist's office. All classrooms and offices were provided with new equipment and teaching resources.
From the second half of the 1958/59 school year, 538 pupils in 15 departments began studying at Elementary School No. 1. The following were created: 3 classes I, 3 classes II, 2 classes IV, 1 class V, 2 classes VI, 1 class VII. Some classes had 39 to 40 pupils each. The teaching staff on the first day of school consisted of 16 teachers.
