Opposite the Nursing Home on Celna Street is the ‘Dona Nobis Pacem’ (‘Grant Us Peace’) monument, dedicated to the memory of 120 German hostages - boys and men - who were executed by Soviet soldiers on February 7th 1945. In 1995, exhumations and a symbolic burial of the victims took place. A coffin with the remains of just six of the execution victims found was placed in a tomb at the foot of the memorial, entwined with 120 iron-wrought ivy leaves.
